For our first album of the week, we here at Paradise have decided to choose the New York based duo, MS MR. MS MR is a part of a fresh, new and young group of larger acts we here at Runaway are very excited about. Acts like Cherub, Junior Prom, Wild Club, and Giant are all groups we think you will be hearing a lot more of in the not so distant future. But for our inagural AOTW MS MR through and through has a very developed sound.
Lizzy Plapinger takes a page out of the books of other large female stars like Florence Welch and Lana Del Rey. In fact if you were to listen to the song 'Fantasy' off of Secondhand rapture and just threw it in a FATM playlist a trained ear may not have been able to peg it as a completely different group. However it is different enough to make the sonics produced by MS MR a real pleasure to the ear.
The whole album is available on Soundcloud under MS MR's accound, MS MR. It is great music for a bike ride, homework, working out or just playing around the house. There is enough diversity in the whole album to keep you interested throughout the 12 tracks. If you are a fan of MS MR, you will note that four of the songs on Secondhand Rapture are off of the first MS MR EP, Candy Bar Creep Show.
Coming up next week, a tribute to a local band, and a classic album; Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by Chicago's very own The Smashing Pumpkins. Remember to submit to us the albums and artists you want us to review and write about. These albums do NOT have to be current they can be throwbacks or classics as well!
