The new PUMA NITRO range of running shoes has arrived in SA , and they ’ re mighty fine shoes , packed with innovative technology . This includes super-cushioned nitrogen-infused NITRO midsoles and carboncomposite INNOPLATEs that provide a snappy , faster ride … but don ’ t just take our word for it , come and put them to the wear-test yourself !
RYC Series runners can sign up for our exclusive , biweekly 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Runs in Cape Town , Durban and Johannesburg , and you can take them for a spin . Yes , you heard right … not only can you try on the whole new range , but you can also complete the 5km run in a pair of PUMA NITROs .
“ The 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run is a fun way to keep the RYC Series running community motivated and active in the build up to the 2021 events ,” says Michael Meyer , Managing Director of Stillwater Sports . “ What makes the Demo Runs even more exciting is that the newest PUMA running range , which has only just landed in SA , will be available for runners to see , touch and try . PUMA has been the footwear and apparel partner of the RYC Series since the inception of the first event , the Cape Town 12K CITYRUN , in 2015 . We absolutely love the brand , and to say that we are excited about this new range would be an understatement .”
Sparking Positive Change
Years of research and testing have gone into five new key styles in the NITRO range , the Deviate , Deviate Elite , Velocity , Liberate , and Eternity , all featuring PUMA ’ s cutting-edge supercritical foam technology , NITRO . This foam makes the shoes extremely lightweight and responsive , to help runners use less energy and run comfortably in order to reach their goals .
According to PUMA South Africa Marketing Director Brett Bellinger , the brand is really excited about the new NITRO range . “ The PUMA NITRO Range features our most innovative technologies , including specially engineered designs for female runners . NITRO foam makes the shoes extremely lightweight and responsive , to help runners use less energy and run comfortably to reach their goals .

Putting Them to the Test
The first 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run took place on Thursday 18 March , with runners meeting up at the President Hotel ( Cape Town ), Natal Mounted Rifles ( Durban ) and Benoni Recreational Park ( Johannesburg ). The rest of the series of Demo Runs consists of :

These Demo Runs all start at 5:30pm and are limited to 50 runners per city . Each participating runner will receive a FREE Limited Edition RYC Series headscarf upon arrival – with four colours to choose from – and all who finish the run and stay for the post-run lucky draw will stand a chance to win amazing prizes from PUMA . This will include a pair of PUMA NITRO running shoes to the value of R4000 at each city venue after each run , meaning 12 pairs of up for grabs across the series . There will also be a selection of PUMA apparel items as prizes in the draws .
Virtual Option as Well
Runners also have the opportunity to participate in the 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run virtually , by registering for the Virtual Option on the online entry platform , and these runners will also be in line to win amazing prizes through our competition on social media ! All you need to do is take a photograph of yourself participating virtually in a Demo Run , and share it to the RYC Series social media platforms , tagging the specific event ( Joburg 10K CITYRUN , Durban 10K CITYRUN or Cape Town 12K CITYRUN ), as well as @ PUMASouthAfrica , and using the following hashtags : # RunYourCity and # RUNPUMA . The lucky draw will take place midday on the Friday after each Demo Run , and winners will be announced thereafter ( Ts & Cs apply ).
