Once in a life time at Yeosu

Do you know “Busker Busker”? My favorite song is “Yeosu bambada”. That means the night view of the Yeosu Ocean. And people include me liked the song because the melody is intimate and the lyrics are very touchy. Actually the song brought back old memories of my hometown. I was born in there and grew up until 3rd grade of elementary school. That place was overlaid with memories of my childhood. And we were both excited when we got a chance to visit Yeosu as an EXPO’s volunteer with new people.

As we arrived at Yeosu, we couldn’t help astonishing looking at salty scent of ocean, glittering sand beach and cracking waves. That seaside had all sorts of pleasant associations with childhood holidays for me. And we were so excited to see the EXPO! The size of the world exposition was amazing. And there were lots of things that we can enjoy as spectators. It’s a big white building, and has flags hanging in front of it. And there were lots of people who have been preparing for the event for a month. Some people were attending an outdoor play with joy. After the play, there were also special performances at the main hall.

At exhibition total of thirty countries were adorning their booth. China decorated their booth with blazing reds and splendid quilts and Switzerland covered up their booth with white snow tent. And Oman was coloring the booth with gradation of green and yellow, the color of their national flag. The workers were struggling to get attention of spectators. It felt so new to me that each nation were decorating their booth with their individuality. And then we visited volunteer’s dormitory, unpacked, had short filed education about three hours and got a free day. The water of the ocean which we saw was the color of emeralds and was clean and transparent. We really wanted to jump in the crystal colored sea.

But first, since we were so starving, raced into restaurants where expo characters were touting. Restaurants were ornamented with sky-blue and white colors trying to show the cool breeze. And the tables have been covered with patterned wallpaper. Workers in fashionable clothes took an order with smiling face. Foods also were made up with diverse sea foods which prompted my appetite. Before drooling, we tasted food quickly. They were just out of this world. As they used very fresh ingredients, the shrimps that I just ate felt like they were still alive in my mouth, popping.
