was the Honorary President. I
played in the firsts as scrum half and
centre until a knee injury finished
my playing career. Since then I’ve
served on the general committee in
many guises and became President
in 2018.”
The Role
“I love seeing the firsts win -
nothing better - their success ripples
throughout the Club structure - and
as we have a thriving midi section -
their success matters too. As for the
most challenging part of my role -
well that’s balancing the many views
and opinions held throughout the
Club - it’s our job on the committee
to work these through - no one
person can deliver on their own.”
Atmosphere
“We’ve always had a good team
spirit here at Dalziel but current
results on the field and the numbers
attending training reflect a huge
optimism within the club - which
I have to say is in no small amount
due to Club Coach Graham Calder,
Steven Clowes assistant coach and
the rest of the coaching team.”

Present Youth
“Things are going well right now.
The First XV are second in their
league with games in hand having
recently beaten the league leaders
– plus our Midi section have just
been announced as over-all winners
of their conference. Our aim now is
to continue to build on the sound
foundation our coaching team has
disseminated throughout the Club.” “Youth
Rugby
is
hugely
important to the Club. We have to
attract and develop our own players.
That’s why we’ve appointed Darren
Moon as our youth development
officer. Darren aids recruitment
from all local schools and ensures
that coaching is consistent and of
a high standard throughout all our
youth sections.
