Cockermouth Paul Greening recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with Cockermouth RFC, saying, “I played youth rugby for the club as well as playing alongside Chris Wright for the North of England U21s. I was diagnosed with a heart murmur and for health reasons I hung my boots up at age 24 however I decided to return to play again when I was 34. These days I take up any of the back 5 positions in our forward pack and at age 40 I am one of the older players in the team. This season we have a great young bunch of lads who have been getting stronger over the past few seasons and morale is very high. As a whole Cockermouth Rugby Club is run off and on the field, from the juniors through to the committee, to a very high standard and I try my best to help out with attracting sponsorship when I can. As a family orientated club everyone is made to feel welcome and we are looking forward to the coming months as we head towards and enjoy a great end to the season!” “I have had a long association with Cockermouth RFC and regularly take clients to the games. The club’s hospitality is second to none and I value my friendship with Paul Greening and the other club members. All the best from everyone at the Mitchell’s Livestock!” John Wharton, Mitchell’s Livestock “My dad used to play and I’ve been involved all my life. I volunteer at the bar for any functions and matches that we have and am happy to be able to help out. I’ve been brought up with the club and it is part of our social life now. I’ve seen three generations at the club with my dad, my partner and now my son playing so I’ve seen it all here and thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere. It is very much a family affair for us with my Dad having played and now President so we continue to support the club. The team seems to be doing really with a good set of lads currently involved so hopefully we can continue to do well. If they stick together then I think they can continue to progress and develop.” Julie Coulthard Dan Mackay recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “My dad Robert was a player at Cockermouth Rugby Club so I have always had a good connection with the club. These days myself and my partner Wendy take our son Robson, who is 18 months old, down to the club where he loves to run around and is well known by the members; it’s been mentioned he would make a good scrum half and I would be happy about that if he doesn’t pull on the Newcastle United FC jersey when he’s older. As a club sponsor we like to support he club with the family business Mackay Plant and Skip Hire and are fully aware of the great work everyone does to make Cockermouth RFC the successful club that it is. I would like to congratulate everyone at the club on being chosen to appear in Rugby Club Magazine, wishing everyone all the best of continued success for the future!” W.G.Mackay Ltd Waste Management and Plant Hire Established since 1959 With over 60 years experience in skip hire, plant hire and waste management.
