Inverleith Ashley Thomson has played his rugby for many clubs both in the UK and overseas including US teams in Flint Michigan and Fort Worth Texas. At one point he was not far away from the United States national rugby union team, nicknamed the Eagles. But fate lead him in a different direction. Closer to home Ashley played for Bath, Somerset and these days you will see him on the books at Inverleith RFC. He told Rugby Club Magazine, “I’m originally from Somerset but my dad is Scottish from Innerleithen and although I am an England fan I am always pleased to see Scotland do well. My main playing position is either 9,10 or on the wing and although I was unable to play a full season just gone, due mainly to work commitments, I did manage four or five games. “This coming season holds more challenges for the lads but we are all looking forward to the games ahead. We are lucky to have so many seasoned players in our squad who have been brought up and learned their trade through other well-known clubs and so far our mood is high. “My company Independent Slate Supplies are a proud sponsor of the club and we always like to help out when we can.
