Ashley Thomson has played his rugby for many clubs
both in the UK and overseas including US teams in
Flint Michigan and Fort Worth Texas. At one point he
was not far away from the United States national rugby
union team, nicknamed the Eagles. But fate lead him in
a different direction. Closer to home Ashley played for
Bath, Somerset and these days you will see him on the
books at Inverleith RFC.
He told Rugby Club Magazine, “I’m originally from
Somerset but my dad is Scottish from Innerleithen and
although I am an England fan I am always pleased to
see Scotland do well. My main playing position is either
9,10 or on the wing and although I was unable to play a
full season just gone, due mainly to work commitments,
I did manage four or five games.
“This coming season holds more challenges for the
lads but we are all looking forward to the games ahead.
We are lucky to have so many seasoned players in our
squad who have been brought up and learned their
trade through other well-known clubs and so far our
mood is high.
“My company Independent Slate Supplies are a proud
sponsor of the club and we always like to help out
when we can. It’s a great accolade for Inverleith RFC to
appear within Rugby Club Magazine and I’m sure if our
boys keep supporting each other and playing a similar
brand of rugby as last season we will enjoy another
great campaign in 2019/2020!”

“The most challenging aspects of
life at Inverleith is where do we get

than seven rugby teams (Inverleith,
