Alex Cornford is the mother of Harri and
Ed Dobbs who both play no. 3 for St Peters
RFC’s senior teams; she also is a valued
club sponsor with her business Willowbrook
House. Alex told us, “Ed, who is 26 now,
started playing rugby at Cowbridge for their
U11s before moving on to St Peters with his
younger brother Harri starting later on with St
Peters in their U10s.
“Ed has also played with Cardiff Schools
and Harri, currently studying Sports Science
at the Met in Cardiff, where he has also
played hooker, has had the experience of
playing in some Welsh Cup fixtures also. The
boys already new Dai `Gripp’ Griffiths from
the Blues coaching connection so were
delighted when they heard he was joining
St Peters.
“The new ideas he has brought to the
club, the fitness regime and discipline has
taken the club forward and helped develop a progressive attitude. Many of the senior players
have come through the ranks as friends and some of the older heads like Kris Barry, who is
good friend of the boys and many others at the club have been invaluable to this season’s
achievements.
“It still seems early days since the new coaches have taken over and understandably
some members will take longer than others to have faith in the new and improved setup but
the sheer joy displayed from the St Peters players says more than words can and myself and
many if not all of the club supporters are 100% behind this great club as we all move forward!”
