Preston Lodge
Blair Cowan has been associated with Preston Lodge RFC for over fifteen years and recently told Rugby Club Magazine,
“I was a late comer to rugby, with football being my main sport growing up, but as I reached the age of 20 I was enjoying
my rugby friends and the socialising so much that I was easy prey to a suggestion to play.”
“Good friends Ben Jones and John Armstrong were the culprits who made the suggestion and the rest is history as they
say - I played in the 2nd row for PL from age 20 to this season retiring at age 35. I have always played 2nd row and have
really enjoyed playing with some great young lads in what has been a brilliant season - not dissimilar in many ways to the
enjoyment of the great 2013/14 unbeaten season when I had the honour of being club captain.
“My company, East Air Conditioning Ltd, have sponsored the club for a few years now and we like to help out when we
can. Preston Lodge Rugby Club is a credit to the local community, producing their own players over many years. Although
I can no longer commit to training and playing I will still keep involved perhaps helping out with coaching.
“My son is on his way now so hopefully in a few years’ time I can take him down to the club’s mini rugby section. Best
wishes to everyone at PL for many more seasons to come; I look forward to seeing you all soon!”
Nathan Ross is a sponsor of Preston Lodge Rugby Club
with his company Bier Hoose and told us, “I have played
rugby since the age of eight years old. I am originally from
Glasgow and moved to the Lothian area due to Business
- The Bier Hoose, also a club sponsor, when friends
suggested I played for the club.
This current season didn’t start well for me when I broke
my foot but managed to recover and play from Feb/March
onwards as a centre or wing, playing some 7s games also.
There is a great group of young players coming through who
competed well in a tough league. I wish everyone at the club
the best of continued success!”
