It’s still dark on this cold mid February Saturday morning, I have just
driven past Franklin Gardens where they have started to prepare for
the Saints home fixture against Sale Sharks.
I am heading for Northampton Boys Brigade
Old Boys Rugby Club (The BB for short)
As I pass through the gates and over
the bridge, already the pressures of a
busy week are beginning to lift from my
shoulders and I am looking forward
to another Rugby filled weekend.
The forecast is for sunshine and
temperatures reaching the mid-teens,
perfect for rugby.
I enter the club, its spotless a sure
sign Ange has worked her magic once
again.
I walk the corridor to changing room
1, Sooty has been here, our development
squad shirts hang from their pegs in
anticipation of what is in store for them later on
in the day.
On route to the office I see the first team
shirts and kit bagged up ready to go, two
questions spring to mind. Is Collin still
here and if so, is he fully clothed?
Soon the Colonel will arrive to
prepare the meals for the players after
the match. I am sure all of our long-
suffering referee’s will agree Andy
is a well-known character here at The
BB, who’s recipe for red cabbage is
sadly a well-guarded secret.
