Keresley MJB FINANCIAL PLANNING LTD “I’ve sponsored the club for three years now having moved to the area six years ago. I ended up living next to their Secretary, Gareth Whitehead and when he mentioned they were looking for sponsors I was happy to help the local club. I attend the VP and sponsor days and have to say they’re a great bunch of lads who I am proud to be associated with. Thank you for making me feel so welcome and good luck for the future.” Matt Booth “I have been at KRFC since 2012 and in the role of secretary since 2015. I was attracted to the club due to the fact that a new group of people had formed to help the club through a difficult time back to a stable and strong position. The most challenging part of this role is being able to have a balance of my family life, work life and club life. There is always so much to do and not always enough people on the ground to do it The most rewarding part of the role is seeing all the ideas, processes, growth and functions that the club has put on to support all sections and the local community. There is a very positive mood, after a tough couple of years in 2011-13, the club has seen consistent growth in all areas with some new committee members taking positions to move the club forward. There is a strong impetus to make sure that all sections blend with each other. This has a positive effect. The season has been good so far from a rugby perspective with some highlights and a couple of blips. Our senior side could do with four or five more players to support our injured players. We have also blooded three fresh faces to rugby. The mini and juniors, after a shaky start have settled and we are again on a growth period of new families joining KRFC In 2019 we plan to have a tour at Easter, continue to support our mini and junior section, growth, coaches, Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management At MJB Financial Planning Ltd our focus is to maintain a long term trusted relationship with both our personal and corporate clients. Youth rugby is the lifeblood of the club and hugely important from a fun perspective, monetary perspective and future senior teams. It also supports the community hugely. The club is focused on sections mixing with each other. Some of the senior players train the U15’s side, which has helped the U15’s feel more part of the future of the club. Events are also opened to all sections to make sure that people know each other, parents know each other and the seniors know the players coming through. We believe Keresley is the epitome of a community club. We have engaged with other sports so the local community can utilise our facilities including local schools, a bowls club (just joined with us), dogs flyball, drone club, netball and football. Our biggest challenges will be generating finance and volunteers. Without these two our club would be dead! Our ambitions are to grow as a sporting facility, hold more events, become self-sufficient with funds, develop our playing fields to the highest standard in the area, gain more members and develop another senior team.” Gareth Whitehead, Secretary www.rugbyclubmag.com 93
