Keresley at the club, is thriving, and the recent arrival of Keresley Bowls Club, and the almost miraculous transformation of a patch of uneven ground into a high- quality bowls green, will make the club into a centre of excellent for sport in the village. The season for the senior XV started quite well, after an excellent pre-season. A series of injuries has caused difficulties, including conceding a league match, but the injuries are clearing up, and the second half of the season gives us hope to gain promotion. Under skipper Tom Ray, the team is trying to develop its style of rugby, away from the traditional forward ‘grunt’, and progress is being made. The arrival of Rob Wood, from “I was born and bred in Keresley and played for the club as a full back between 1987 and 2004. When I played the club had six teams and a colts side and I’ve always kept up to date with how they get on. It is always good to see a local side do well and I wish them the best of luck for the future.” Nigel Wilkinson “We’ve sponsored the club since 1990; I first became involved as my brothers, Malcolm, Ron, Paul, Gary and Steve played and went on to captain the club. I played between 1976 and 2001 as a hooker before a knee injury stopped me. I don’t get down to the club as much as I would like but always keep up to date with how they are getting along. I’d just like to wish everyone at the club all the best and encourage them to continue to enjoy their rugby.” Roy Freemantle Midlands 3 club Dunlop, has proved that the club is an attractive proposition for players from a higher level, and his contribution to the season so far has been excellent. As with all junior clubs of this level, putting out a full side is always a challenge.
