Kettering “I started playing senior rugby as a 16-year-old in 1973 before they had juniors or colts at the club. The following year the club started a colts section so I played for them. Working on Saturdays meant I had to put my job before rugby and when I changed job and was able to play I returned straight away. I played mainly at centre or wing but as the years rolled on I headed closer to the pack and became a scrum half.” “I started my own business around 2001 and realised my rugby career was coming to a close contributed to me hanging his boots up. I was also president for a year three or four years ago and loved it. “I am delighted for the current first XV, who are predominantly products of the club’s mini and junior Wayne Jenkins of Wilson Browne Solicitors is a club sponsor of Kettering Rugby Club. He spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about the businesses long connection with the club, saying, “Historically, the companies relationship with Kettering was with Peter Wilson and after many years and good relations with the likes of Graham Caldicott there was a short lapse in our relations with the club. As a company we like to get the word out there and being a fan of sport and grassroots rugby, having played a bit back in the day, we like to help community sport. We have invested in premiership rugby previously but had to question value per pound on our investments and are now delighted to support local sport. section. Many of the current team have the ability to play at a higher level and if they move the club will be happy for them. “My business Snow Finders have been a sponsor for five or six years now. Some of my best memories are from my playing days with my many friends at the club but also the connections and friendships I made with other clubs who were as hospitable to Kettering as I hope they felt we were to them. “I wants to give the young people of their club the opportunity to enjoy themselves as much as I have and wish everyone associated with Kettering the very best of continued enjoyment and fun!” Bob Wheeler Unfortunately, living in Daventry makes it almost impossible to get to the matches at Kettering as I find rugby and a few pints go particularly well together meaning taxis home etc. If I lived closer I would be a regular attender for sure, my aim is to continue to build links with a rugby club that we feel mirrors the values of our business. Peter May and the lads keep me informed of the great season the guys are having and myself and everyone at Wilson Browne would like to wish them all the best for the remainder of the 2018/2019 campaign!” ALL THE HELP YOU NEED Wilson Browne Solicitors understand that seeing a lawyer can sometimes be daunting.
