I moved to Guernsey for a year and continued playing on my return when an opportunity came to become a referee. My refereeing career took off and I became a test match referee, overseeing many international matches for years which I thoroughly enjoyed. My son Kevin was a product of the club’s mini section, graduating to club captain and my grandchildren, Jake 7 and Holly 6, are now running about at Fort Matilda Playing fields. The club have produced their fair share of very good rugby players, many who are now returning to the club. GWRFC are definitely capable of holding their own in National 3 and I’d like to pass on my congratulations to everyone at the club on being chosen to appear in Rugby Club Magazine and wish them the best of continued success.” Open Eddie Murray Marco Medinelli and his business the Esplanade Café have had a long association with the club. Marco told us, “Although I have never been to the club I greatly admire the fantastic community work they do with young people locally. The initial relationship started with the pupils of Greenock Academy who would be regular customers of the café. I wish everyone associated with the club the very best of continued success.” Telepho www.rugbyclubmag.com 23
