Greenock Wanderers
Duncan MacKenzie is a former pupil at
Greenock Academy and recently told Rugby
Club Magazine, I played Rugby at school
and when I moved to London I played for
Uxbridge and Slough rugby clubs.
The supermarket I worked in also formed a
rugby side which, although a bit disorganised,
was a lot of fun and I also played for Dumfries
Rugby Club. I played varied positions
including Wing Forward, Scrum Half, Stand
Off and Full Back. I also coached the 8 to
10-year-old age groups for a few seasons
which I enjoyed

Butchers, has sponsored the club for longer
than I can remember and I am more than
happy to help out when I can. Unfortunately,
my business is open on a Saturday which
counts me out from club visits but the regular
feedback I receive is very positive. Best
wishes to everyone at the club.”
We’re doing ok on the pitch and are around
fourth with games in hand. We had lost a lot
of players but managed to get them back and
that has been a major boost for us. Overall,
we still have a lot of challenges ahead but I
would say that the mood is fairly buoyant.”
2018/19
“We won the West Shield which sees us go
into the National Cup which we will play
on the 30th March and gives us a chance of
going to Murrayfield. That would certainly
be nice and we hope to be in a position near
the top of the league. We’re not certain what
will happen in regards to promotion because
of the Pro 6 coming along but we hope to be
there or there abouts.
John Anderson is a long-standing club sponsor

and hail from Lanarkshire where I played for
Waysiders Drumpellier as a front row hooker.
My business like to support local sport and
