Brixham situation, on both the playing and financial fronts. With ever- escalating costs associated with running the rugby, even for a well-funded club such as Brixham with such strong local support, the difference between profit and loss can be marginal. Similarly, the club is well aware that it has no divine right to continue to ‘punch above its weight’ on the pitch. With no large-scale employment and a small catchment area already heavily populated with rugby clubs, the continued development of a pipeline of local talent is paramount to future success. Mindful of these challenges, the army of volunteers at Brixham continues not only to work for today, but plan for tomorrow. If the past is anything to go by, there is a bright future ahead for the Fishermen. Brixham RFC welcomes anyone who would like to be associated with the club in whatever capacity, whether as new players, volunteers, supporters or sponsors. I used to play for the club in the second row, particularly enjoying the social side and had a spell as Vice Chairman and am now a Director. The guys are doing brilliantly at the moment and I’m looking forwards to the second half of the season.” Jonathan Parker “I’ve been involved with the club since 1996, playing in the senior teams until 2010 as a winger or fullback. My son, Lucas, plays in the U9s and is coached by some of my friends. I get to as many games as possible and hope the club continues to be at the heart of the community.” Residential Conveyancing d&d ✹ 1983 Commercial Conveyancing 01803 313656 Wills & Probate www.darbylaw.co.uk Inheritance Tax Planning Ben Darby Divorce Criminal Defence Civil Litigation Landlord with & Tenant “I’ve been associated the club since I was fifteen and am now sixty.
