midpoint, the only disappointing fact is
too few bonus points despite being the
3rd highest scoring team in the league.
Too many 3 try wins! Now we want
to continue to improve and attempt
promotion back into National 2 rugby;
it will be a tough prospect as the level of
rugby at this level is very good.”
Youth
“Youth rugby is vitally important to
us as the majority of our 1st XV players
are local home-grown talent and it is
critical we continue to produce talented
players from youth to senior level. We
currently have more than 270 youngsters
here ranging from U7’s to U16’s with a
strong Colts side.
We have six members of the colts
representing Devon Colts in the South
West Counties Championship. Barnstaple
is a rugby town and rugby has always
been its main sport despite the beaches
and surfers.
We have a Director of Rugby
who oversees our Coaches and the
Development
Coach/trainer
who
provides that link to encourage potential
talent from U16s and U18s through to the
First team squad via a 2nd XV that is able
to give the youngsters their first taste of
senior rugby.”
