“I played mini and junior rugby for the club and
a little for seniors mainly as a front row hooker
before back injuries shortened my playing days.
Now I frequently attend matches and thinks this
very young squad are playing well.
My business S and S Taxis have sponsored
the club for over five years now. I would like to
congratulate the club on being chosen to appear
in Rugby Club Magazine and pass on my best
wishes moving forward.”

Paul Lloyd originates from Merthyr, growing
up in the rough Gurnos estate and moved to
Glynneath some years back where his business
OJ Lloyd & Sons is situated today. He told us,
“PJ Lloyd Potatoes Ltd has sponsored the club
for over ten years and like to help out when
we can. Although I am not from the area the
club have always made my family and I feel very
welcome.
I grew up in Merthyr which was renowned
as a football and boxing town and produced
some great fighters. I was also into my football
but played rugby for Dowlais as a flanker also.
My three sons played for the club too. Bradley
at junior level, Kyle who is down at Aberdare
and Brogan who plays full back or winger for
Glynneaths 1st XV, being at the club from the
age of 9.
Glynneath have a great young team at the
moment producing players through their youth
system. I’d like to thank everyone at the club
for their continued friendship over the years and
wish everybody at the club the best of success
for this season and many more to come.”
