Glynneath Glynneath RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB Glynneath RFC suffered the disappointment of relegation not long ago but have wasted no time in picking themselves up. Club Chairman Morgan Francis recently took the time to speak with Rugby Club Magazine to provide an insight into how they are getting on. He told us, “The mood at the club is good; getting relegated from the WRU Championship I wasn’t quite sure how we’d go in the Division 1 West Central but it’s been nothing but positive, socially it was a great Christmas with a lot going on in the club which kept the Treasurer happy!” “The season has gone really well, only losing one player and adding five to the squad has made us stronger. We are second in the league, reaching the quarter finals of the WRU plate, semi-finalists in the West Wales Cup and still in the Silver ball. “Now we are looking to continue to grow as a club both on the field and socially, to get all sections of the club, juniors, seniors and supporters working together to make sure that Glynneath RFC has a secure future. Graham Hirst of club sponsor Ministry of Furniture recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his long and positive association with Glynneath Rugby Club, “Although not originally from the area I met my wife Leanne, a local girl, back in 1999 and consider myself part of the local community now. Leanne’s family have always had a strong association with the club so it was very natural for me to become involved and the club members always made me feel very welcome. My father in law, Malcolm Thomas, played for the club from 1966 through 1972 and was (allegedly!) a good centre and winger and now my son Danny has followed in his grandad’s footsteps playing for the club’s junior section, predominantly at scrum half or fly half. Like the club, our business ethics are very much about inclusion and local people. Ministry is a business with Social Aims with more than fifty percent of our workforce at Ministry of Furniture being people with a barrier of entry to work. We are keen supporters of local sport, also sponsoring Aberavon Wizards. We’ll be at the Principality - looking forward to the up and coming fixtures in the Six Nations. I can’t speak highly enough about the Rugby Club and the work they continue to perform in the local community; Max Boyce MBE is a great club president, always willing to support local initiatives and businesses whilst taking care of the grounds. Myself and all our staff at Ministry of Furniture wish everyone associated with Glynneath Rugby Club the very best of continued enjoyment and success for the remainder of the 2018/2019 campaign!” Creating inspirational social areas & workplaces At Ministry of Furniture we help you create an inspiring workplace environment which works for you.
