He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “My dad David who has sadly passed away now was instrumental in helping develop the club’s mini and junior rugby section. My dad’s brothers, Roger and Adrian, both played for the club; Adrian was a captain back in the 60s. I have played through the ranks myself from going along to the club as a four year old, through senior rugby and now the vets. My son Lucas plays for the U8s and my daughter Anastasia also played although her interest has turned to gymnastics for the time being. “Myself and Chis Rawlings started the kittens on a Sunday morning for three year olds which is going really well and is more about keeping the kids happy, connection with one another and development than rugby but is a great stepping stone to the minis. Craig Lancett has had a long and positive association with Drybrook RFC, starting in the clubs mini section as a five year old. He also sponsors the club with his business Lancett & Co. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I grew up fifty metres from the club and a few years on from my mini and junior days (with a large gap in the middle) I still play 3rd team and vets rugby for Drybrook - always in the tight head prop position. Unlike their dad, Max, who is 12 years old and exceptionally quick and a great athlete over 200 metres, looks like a very good winger and Ava who is 9 and also exceptionally quick will hopefully be a star of a future ladies side. “I believe mini and junior rugby is the life blood of most clubs and certainly is the case for Drybrook Rugby Club.
