York FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG players of the 1st and 2nd teams playing in the same team. We have Juniors playing from U6 through to the U18 Colts – 350+ youngsters training/playing every Sunday. A great thank you has to go the 60+ coaches who help with the development of these players. The more players we have coming through the system, the stronger our senior teams will be in the future. This year saw the introduction of York RUFC Women’s team. With many of them playing rugby for the first time, it was a great start for them in winning all their friendlies! They hope to be accepted into a league for the coming season. We also have a York RUFC Girls team for the under 18’s who will feed into the Women’s team. The remainder of 2018 will see the preparations being made for the 2018/2019 season – especially the 1st XV. They’ll be playing in North One East and will have to ‘step up’ for what lies ahead. It will be challenging but hopefully enjoyable! York RUFC has played in Yorkshire 1 for a number of years and have made many friends. In some ways it will be strange not going to some of our favourite grounds and seeing many familiar faces but we’ve waited a long time for this chance and don’t intend to let it slip from our grasp. Our last time playing in North One East was in 2007. The last three times that we’ve played in North One East, we’d been promoted as runners up after winning the play-off game – only to come back down the next season. We don’t intend to repeat the experience! Article provided by Rob Long, Head of Communication 82 Issue 79
