Penrith RUFC was first established 137 years ago in 1881 and since then has gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud . They have been crowned North Division 2 East champions on two occasions in 2006 and 2009 .
The club has also developed a special affinity with the Cumbria Cup which they have won an impressive eight times with the most recent victory coming in 2012 . The current group of players will be keen to add to their proud history over the coming years .
At present the club is based at Winters Park in Cumbria and their first team competes in the North One East League . They are led by the team of President Ian Davidson and Chair Geoff Matthews and the club is looking to progress under their guidance .
They enjoyed a positive campaign this time around as their first team put together a record of eighteen wins and eight defeats from their twenty-six matches . This saw them finish in the top half of the table with ninety points on the board .
This should provide them with the perfect platform from which to build as they prepare for the 2018 / 19 season . As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of pushing on next time around .
One of the highlights of the team ’ s performances has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have been able to produce . This has been reflected by the fact that they have racked up 848 points in the league alone at a rate of more than thirty per game .
This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future . This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate .
Penrith RUFC is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a
