Cadishead Rhinos
Amateur Rugby League Football Club
Cadishead Rhinos ARLFC was first established in 1993 by founder members
Mike Owen, Darren Broadstock, Eddie Dean and Rob Young. They started out
by playing a season of friendlies before taking the decision to enter the North
West Counties League Division 6 under the name Cadishead George.
At that point they were playing their
games in Culcheth but soon made the
move to their current home on Lords
Street in Manchester. They were coached
by Howard Smith and captained by
Eddie Dean. Since then the club has gone
on to put together a history of which
they have every right to be proud and
the current group of players will be keen
to add to this.
Their first team currently competes in
Division Four of the North West Men’s
League and they are led by Chair Steven
Guy who is supported by Secretary Paul
Elliott. The club is looking to progress
under their guidance.
Last season it would be fair to say
that the team did not perhaps enjoy the
campaign that they would have liked as
they put together a record of six wins
and twelve defeats from their eighteen
matches. This saw them finish in the
bottom half of the table with twelve
points on the board.

The team has been working hard
during the off-season in order to make
sure that they are able to hit the ground
running and the early signs have
certainly been positive with an unbeaten
pre-season. They recently picked up a
20-10 victory against Eccleston Lions.
They will now be looking to carry
this form into their league matches and
as long as they are able to keep their
current group of players together and
can perhaps make one or two quality
additions they should be in with a
good chance of enjoying a successful
campaign.
One of the highlights of the
Cadishead Rhinos set up is the superb
youth section that they have in place.
This part of the club looks to provide
young players from the local community
with an opportunity to play the game in
a safe and enjoyable environment whilst
helping them to reach their full potential.
It is important for any club looking
to be successful over a sustained period
of time to be able to produce their own
talent and this is an area that Cadishead
appears to have covered. Coaching
staff involved with this part of the club
are confident that they’ve a number
of players currently involved with the
potential for a bright future in the game
and it will certainly be exciting to see
how they are able to progress.
There is much to admire about
the fine set up that Cadishead Rhinos
ARLFC currently has in place as they
continue to play a vital role in their local
community and this is thanks to all of
the hard work that goes into the club. If
they continue in the same manner then
they should be able to look forward to
a bright and successful future for many
years to come.
