RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
laina RFC enjoyed a fine season this time around and continues to play a
vital role in their local community. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught
up with Club Representative Chris Adams to find out more about how
they have been getting along lately.
Involvement
He told us, “I’ve been involved with the club for over 40
years now. It’s my home town, and I started out playing for
the Youth side which won the Welsh Cup in 1978. Since then
I have played over 800 games for the club, and have been
Secretary for many years.”
The Role
“As Secretary, over the last few years this has become a
steadily more demanding role. Quite rightly, there are lots of
boxes to tick to ensure that everything is being run the right
way as laid down by WRU guidelines.
Paul Heasley is a long term friend and sponsor of Blaina Rugby
Club with his business Paul’s Scaffolding. He recently told Rugby
Club Magazine, “I have my business locally in Brynmawr and have
had a long friendship with club stalwart John Wright.”
“I attend as many club functions as I can and have sponsored the
club for over 16 years now. It’s great to see the club reaching the
heights that Paul’s Scaffolding have reached and over the years
Blaina have produced some great players and talent.
“Many years back I carried out some work for Mike Ruddock
on his house and we went to a 7’s match and enjoyed a few pints
together afterwards. It’s great to see how Mike and many other
players associated with Blaina Rugby Club have enjoyed success
over the years. Congratulations to everyone at the club on a great
season and all the best for the future!”
