We have in the last few years erected some floodlights which have more than paid for themselves already, our next plan is to install a balcony on the playing side of the clubhouse with access for disabled visitors, and to create a ladies changing area rather than having to use the men’s changing rooms.” Challenges “Keeping t he club afloat financially is always the toughest challenge but we have done that successfully for every one of 85 years so far. We don’t receive a great deal from donations and we are very grateful to local businesses for the sponsorships they give us, and we don’t have a local rich business tycoon bankrolling us, although we could be open to offers! It is also about making the club itself and its facilities attractive because in the area where we are there are 20 other rugby clubs within a short radius playing to various senior standards from grade 3 level in National League 1, down to grade 10 level in Kent 2.” not come straight back down via relegation as often happens with newly promoted sides.
