Bramley Phoenix RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

here is plenty for Bramley Phoenix RFC to be optimistic about at the moment as the club starts to see the rewards of the hard work carried out by their committee in recent times . Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman Stuart McPherson to find out more .
Involvement
He told us , “ My neighbour has played Bramley most of his career and we played together as juniors at Dudley Hill Rugby League . Our sons are about the same age and he asked if I would like my son to come down and play for the U8s which he did and enjoyed it and played through all the age groups and the 1st team until injury and moving to Australia .
I got involved with helping out and given my back ground as a Clinical Manager in the Yorkshire Ambulance service I offered to look after the first aid .”
Principles
“ I am a great believer in the rugby family and rugby as a guide to the youth of today in how to conduct their life using the principles of belonging / discipline and knowing that once involved then you will have friends for life and have something in common with all people connected to Rugby . I believe that both myself and Vic Potapi ( neighbour and now 1st team coach ) have influenced the youth to keep on a straight path and many have become adults to be proud of .”
The Role
“ One of the most challenging things I have encountered is changing people ’ s perception of the club both internally and externally , and when we get positive feedback it shows that we ’ re heading in the right direction .
Behind the scenes , keeping the club on a solid financial footing has been very challenging in recent years , but with the help of the RFU we now have modern changing rooms that have drawn the attention of other sport clubs wanting to use our facilities such as
Bramley Buffaloes who want a longer commitment to use the ground .
