Lymington Mariners Guernsey Raiders Lymington Mariners RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB Lymington Mariners RFC is a fine example of the important role that a club can play in their local community. Over the years they have put together a history of which they have every right to be proud and the current group of players will be keen to add to this in the future. The club is based at Woodside Park on Ridgeway Lane in Hampshire and their first team currently competes in the Solent 2 League. They are led by President Peter Allen who is supported by Secretary James Bell and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. Their first team has been in fine form so far this season, having put together a record of seven wins and just two defeats from their nine league matches. This has left them sitting near the top of the table with twenty nine points on the board. They will now be looking to put together a good run of results in their remaining fixtures in order to mount a serious title challenge. As long as they are able to keep their current group of players together and injury free they should be in with a good chance of doing just that. It will certainly be exciting to see how they perform as the season draws to a close and there is a confidence among the players that they have the ability to challenge the top sides. One of the highlights of the team’s performances has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have been able to produce. This has been reflected by the fact that they have racked up 233 points at a rate of more than 25 per game, making them one of the top scorers in the league. This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. There is much to admire about the superb set up that Lymington Mariners RFC currently has in place and this is being reflected in the results they are achieving on the field. If they can continue in the same manner then they should be able to look forward to a bright and successful future for many years to come.
