RUGBY CLUB
Allan Glens Rugby Club is at present are doing very well, with
both their first and second teams performing well in their
respective league campaigns. The club also had a very successful
trip to Murrayfield which included some of the younger members
and were delighted to witness Scotland record win over the
Wallabies. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with Club
Representative Michael Alfer to find out more about the good
work they’ve been doing.
Michael McHugh is a club sponsor of Allan Glens Rugby Club with
his business The Station Bar. Rugby Club Magazine managed to
catch up with Michael as he drove back from Donegal, with his
family, after a recent holiday, “I live next door to the club and
encouraged both my lads, Christopher and Cameron, to join the
mini section and although they never really took to it, Cameron
returned to play two and a half years ago and now plays as a
2nd row forward within the clubs junior academy. It is a bit of a
family humour that Cameron has the responsibility of being the
families first ever sportsman! positive influence on everyone at the club and you can clearly
see that the teams and players are performing with that extra
confidence and are as excited as I remember seeing them.
My wife Frances and I have met many great friends through the
club and enjoyed trips to see the Glasgow Warriors with club
members. The success of our senior teams has had a huge and I would like to congratulate everyone at Allan Glens Rugby Club
on such a great season and would like to wish them all the very
best of continued success.”
As a community club I don’t think you will find a friendlier bunch
of people and my business, The Station Bar are delighted to
have sponsored the club for the past four years or so. If the
teams continue to toughen themselves up through their focused
training sessions and then apply what they have practiced on
match day, they can only go from strength to strength.
