Ashington JW RFC, as it is now known, was first established in
1922 following the amalgamation of two Ashington Welfares.
Like many clubs, Ashington existed without a clubhouse as
their base for many years and relied on a number of drinking
establishments to be used as their base.
They were eventually able to acquire
a wooden hut to act as their home and
allowed them to hold meetings on
training nights/week
