Henley FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Chris Hearn, of company sponsor Loddon Brewery, recently took the time to tell us more about his positive association with the club, saying, “I moved to the area when I was six and played socially until the mid-80s when I suffered a neck injury. My younger brother Simon played as a centre and turned out for the veteran’s side whilst my older brother David also played as a centre/Scrum-half.” “My sons, Daniel and Luke, also have a keen interest in the game. Dan plays as a fly-half, and has come through the mini/junior sections at the club having been there for fifteen years. Luke also has a keen interest in cycling and recently completed a ride from the Brewery to Barcelona to raise money for charity. “It has been a good season for Henley this year; they are fifth in the league and playing at the right level of rugby for them. They have a really good coaching team in place and I’m sure will be able to continue to push on over the coming years. “We, at Loddon Brewery, are proud to be associated with the club and I really enjoyed the fixture between the Young Ones and the Old Gits with the latter coming out on top in a 45-50 thriller! Myself and Vanessa and everyone at Loddon’s would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone associated with Henley Rugby Club the best of luck for the future.” This project has taken over three years, raising in excess of one million pounds. These facilities will form a large part of our business plans moving forward, providing an excellent social environment and opportunities to host senior representative fixtures. We are fortunate to have strong commercial links with our sponsors and these facilities help provide opportunities for them also. 76 Issue 76 Every chairman and club member thinks their club is special and we are no different as over the years we have developed strong community links, a wide range of rugby with strong ladies and mini and junior sections along with high quality facilities and service. We are proud of our history yet equally enthusiastic for our future. All clubs rely on a large number of volunteers and we are no different and we all work tirelessly to maintain standards and keep the club moving forward. We have achieved a great deal over the last five years and we have long term plans to further improve our facilities by redevelopment of our existing changing rooms and providing enhanced features pitch side to include a new media room, outside catering facilities and toilet block.
