Chester-le-Street the local council for two or three years and hopefully we will get the lease for the new area soon and with the help of the RFU develop it into the ruby club and community hub that Chester-le Street needs and deserves. “The general mood in the club right now is one of optimism over the proposed new facilities, which would be a real shot in the arm for the club. Last season we started running a 2nd team again for the first time in about five years, and new facilities would also let us begin to develop a youth section again and hopefully a ladies section. “It has been a challenging start to the season due to the unavailability of players, which has meant that we have lost games that we should have won, but hopefully when the players return we can start playing to our potential again. “We definitely see ourselves as a community club, which is why the redevelopment of the junior section and new facilities are so important for the club. “Hopefully within five years we will be settled in our new ground, running two or three senior teams regularly, with a booming youth section and a ladies section. The clubhouse will be a community hub and be big enough to host our own functions. All the above would safeguard the future of Rugby Union in Chester-le-Street. If we can pull that off I will be a very happy man.” We’re here every step of the way Modern Hearse & Limousines Private Chapels Day & Night Service Email: [email protected] www.rugbyclubmag.com 61
