Bristol Imperial RFC has been making tremendous progress in recent
years and has been rewarded with some fine results on the pitch.
Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with Vice Chairman Mike
Jackson to find out more about the good work the club has been
doing lately.
He told us, “I joined imperial at the
age of 14 with a lot of my school mates;
we had a thriving junior section at
the time and had a very good team
of mostly council estate children.
It was a place we could all go to
train and play in an environment
that was safe, senior players and
general members looked out for
you.”
“I’m
currently
vice
chairman, fixture secretary, and
entertainments coordinator. The
most challenging part of my role
initially was ensuring all players
had their kit for the start of the
season, as we as a club made a decision
all players within our club would have

exactly the same kit whether in the 1st
or 2nds.
“Then,
as
fixture
secretary
ensuring the boys play rugby on a
Saturday, the 1st team is easy , but
with the 2nds you get a lot of cry
offs, so quite often we’re looking
to get a game from the Bristol
combination fixture exchange.
But all the effort is worth it to see
where we are now from where
we were five years ago.
“The club has a real feel good
factor amongst all players and
members at the moment which is
great. This demonstrates credit for all
the hard work and effort put in by our
