Our idea is to put time and effort into our U15, U14 and
U13 teams over the coming years and hopefully we will be
able to re-establish the men’s side. The Women Open age side
is made up of about 75% of players who have progressed from
our junior girls teams.”
Community
“We are very much a community club; we are based in
two areas, Whitley Bay and we use the local high school to
attract kids from the local community. We are also based in
the Seaton Valley as well (girls section) and we provide a very
unique experience for girls in the local community. I would
dare say, everyone in the Seaton Valley has heard of the girls
rugby. It’s something the club is very proud of.”
Challenges/Ambitions
“Our biggest challenge, like most clubs I would imagine,
would be attracting volunteers. If we can do this on a regular
basis so we can continue to develop these teams we will be
OK. We also need more volunteers to step up to the committee
so we can develop the club in the longer term.
If we can manage to establish a men’s side again that would
be great. Our main focus is to ensure we run teams from U8
Girls to Open Age Women that are full of volunteers to run
each team and for the boys section we would like to run a team
at each age group from U6 all the way to U16.”
