RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
It is an exciting time for Royal Wootton Bassett RFC with plans in place to
develop both on and off the field. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up
with Club Representative Sam Allen to find out more.
Atmosphere 2017
He told us, “The mood is very
positive. Since our move to Ballards
Ash back in 2013, our membership has
continued to grow year on year, and
generally we have a happy buoyant club.
Our 1st XV have risen to the South
West 1 Division and established
themselves well at this level. We are
running three regular senior teams and
an occasional fourth, as well as two Colts
teams and thriving teams at every Mini
and Junior age level.” “Our 1st XV are currently sitting mid-
table after a tough start to the season.
Both our 2nd and 3rd XVs continue to
defend their places in their respective
leagues.
Our Youth section is buzzing with
many more players making the transition
from youth to senior rugby. Our Colts
teams have left local competitions in
order to attract more competitive fixtures
further afield and this has worked well
for them.

new initiative, in partnership with
Supermarine RFC, to hold Girl’s Rugby
training at our club for the first time. We
developed a new team of girls aged 11
to 18, training together at Royal Wootton
Bassett on Monday evenings.
At the start of the season we launched
our new club website - www.rwbrfc.club
- managed by First Sports, providers
of IT services to the RFU. The new site
has helped us improve communication
of club news, fixtures, and events
throughout the membership and out to
