East Dorset FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG East Dorset RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB The club changed its name from “Old Portcastrians” in the early 2000’s in a bid to attract new players and to re-invent itself. Old Portcastrians had begun in 1966. I first joined the club in 1986 and over the years I have been captain, Head Coach and now progressed to Chairman. The most challenging part of my role is to make sure the club committee and members all play active parts in keeping the club happy, tidy, functioning and afloat. The most rewarding part is seeing our senior side play on a Saturday and 44 Issue 75 the youth and mini train and play on a Sunday. The mood of the club is excellent at the moment. The off season went well with new players coming in – they have shown to be keen and add a good buzz to the squad. This season we are in Dorset & Wilts South 2 and our aim is to finish in the top half and build a team equipped for promotion in a couple of years.
