2017 / 18
“ Following on from our promotion successes we see the 2017 / 18 season as a relishing challenge . We hope to consolidate and put ourselves , as the first team squad , in the mix for honours once again . There is also a strong feeling amongst our squad that we feel we could have a good Welsh cup run this year . At the fore front of our plans has to be a strong youth , seconds and mini section , to underpin our plans for years ahead .
We are very ambitious and want our rugby club to be a major part of our valley community , trying to play a brand of rugby that will bring supporters through the gates and become part of the fabric of Penygraig .”
Youth
“ You must have a youth team to maintain a senior team in any club , that is the lifeblood . This is very hard to accept . You need a youth team to move up to continue our senior team .”
Community

Paul Rees of club sponsor Barbara Rees recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his long and positive association with Penygraig Rugby Club , telling us , “ I have been involved with Penygraig for quite a long time now having held positions as commercial manager , treasurer and coach . I am also a VP at the club and watched most games last season .”
“ The new coach has a very effective and straightforward way of play which has not only suited the team but obviously worked for us . I believe we are one of four teams who are in with a shout next season in Division 2 . We are familiar with a few of the teams so it ’ s not going to be a completely new challenge .
“ Penygraig Rugby Club has a very rich history and back in 1908 were playing to such a high standard that they were chosen as one of the invitational club teams to face the very first touring Australian team . Penygraig is a great community club and last season in particular got it right on and off the pitch . Congratulations to everyone on a great season and best wishes for the new campaign !” www . rugbyclubmag . com 89
