Aspull RFC enjoyed a season to remember last time around as they won their league and are now working hard to continue to progress . Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman John Gaskell to find out more about the good work the club has been doing lately .

Involvement
He told us , “ I have been involved in my current role for three years now ; previous to this I was involved in a Rugby league club which happened to be a tenant of Aspull RFC . The transition , initially was difficult however still very satisfying , as I was able to hand over the reins to my old club , and develop the facility further .”
The Role
“ The most challenging part of my role was my understanding of how a RFU club differed from a RFL club , in terms of functionality and performance . It has taken me a while to adapt , but I ’ m now satisfied and comfortable in my role . Other challenges were the development of the club and ensuring that its members were gaining every benefit of the facility .
The rewarding aspects would be the satisfactions when seeing youngsters and adults enjoying themselves at the club , and the social interaction . Gaining more friends and what can be classed as a family . I get enjoyment from other people enjoying themselves , that is my reward .”
Atmosphere
“ At the moment the general mood is one of excitement and determination . Last year we took the difficult decision to move into a more competitive league . Some of our members were hesitant at this , however we have achieved a very high standard of rugby , winning the league with an unbeaten record , so the mood is great . Our junior sections are thriving and have developed in the last year from being developing section of children giving it a go , to
