Unit 5 & 6, Gidleys Meadow, Christow, Exeter, Devon, EX6 7QB
passionate about taking this club as far
as I can.
I am currently focused on developing
juniors and the work in the schools is
amazing, it really motivates me with
the fantastic feedback from the teachers.
Next step is get parents involved as
coaches all over Devon – a fulltime job
in itself”.
RC: How’s the general mood down at
the club now?
LK: “There is a sense of optimism
as we look to the future. The game was
dying in the South West for various
reasons and we as a club took a stand
and sought a set of fixtures that would
prepare us to play at a higher level.
The fixtures have been tough, and
we have taken some heavy defeats, but I
think you learn so much when you take
a hit. We know the levels that we need
to get to, and the fixtures are regular
which they haven’t been for the last few
seasons.”
PJ: “A sense of a ‘brave new world’
and creating a new rugby league
dedicated culture. We have a lot of new
players joining the club from other clubs
and union clubs, therefore we are trying
to make them feel like the rugby league
is worth the effort”.
RC: What are your plans for the rest of
2017?
LK: “To continue playing fixtures,
to blood every member of our extensive
squad, and to continue to bring quality
players into the club.”
PJ: “From a juniors perspective,
we need to develop a 3 year plan and
engage schools around Devon. At the
moment I am trying to recruit parents
and volunteers to drive the project
forward and to create hubs for Devon
Sharks RL”.
