Community
“ We are always working with the community , holding not just sporting events but functions . We recently had a circus on site , perform marshalling duties at events across the island and are always looking to help where we can .”
Facilities
“ During TT we become a campsite , so we are regularly making improvements to our infrastructure to cater for that . A lot of thought goes into this expenditure , weighing up the impact on the rugby side of things .
Rugby is our number one priority so at the end of the day , an investment has to either make a profit for the club or be a benefit to rugby . In the off season a big investment will be put into improving the pitch so that it is in good shape throughout the wet part of the season .”
Challenges
“ Player numbers on the Island are always a worry , but in the next few years we will be very proactive in creating a solid link with all the local schools to assure we have a next generation of players .
Travel is always a factor , due to wok commitments and family , every away trip at least takes a whole day so the 2017 / 18 season will be about involving the families and employees in our culture and getting all-round involvement .”
Ambitions
“ For the first team National 3 is within our five year goals , moving up to North West 1 is part of that process . Our ambitions also include on-going improvements to the club house and facilities , as well as an increase in coaches and junior numbers . We have created a good connection with Samurai sportswear , and hope to create a 7s / 10s tournament at the club where we can attract a high level of players . We are looking for continuous improvement , creating a family culture to include everyone .” www . rugbyclubmag . com 15
