previously three of our seventeen year old colts have played 1st XV rugby this season . As far as producing players that have gone on to play higher class rugby there have been many over the years . Among them are Mike and Tom Rawlings who went on to play for Launceston and the full County side , Mike is now head coach at Wadebridge .
“ Bryn Jenkins went on to play for the Welsh under 18 ’ s and is now head coach at Barnstaple . Sam Hocking went on to the Bath Academy , played for Launceston , Plymouth Albion and the full County side and then Ealing . Sam is at present forwards coach at URSC Tigers Hong Kong and is in line to be the forwards coach for the Hong Kong National under 14 ’ s-under 19 ’ s .
“ Sam Chapman went on to play for Launceston in the National leagues and Chris Chew went on to the Exeter Academy and then played for Launceston ; both are now back at Liskeard . Luke Chapman ( played for England at youth level ) and Lloyd Fairbrother ( both props ) went on to the Exeter Academy ; Luke is now at Cornish Pirates and Lloyd is playing in Wales for Newport Gwent Dragons .
“ Mark Goldsmith went on to play for Plymouth Albion and Penzance-Newlyn ; Mark is now back at Liskeard coaching the under 16 ’ s . Chris Hocking went on to play for the Devon and Cornwall representative team , then for Plymouth Albion eventually becoming head coach there , before returning to
Liskeard , where he is now coaching the Colts . However the most famous of the clubs “ products ” would be Trevor Woodman who went on to play for Gloucester in the Premier and become a World Cup winner in 2003 with England .
“ We are very much a community club as the majority of our senior squad and the youth players come from the Liskeard and Looe area . The biggest challenge the club could well face is the simple lack of grass to play because of the housing planned to be built within Cornwall . The ambition of the club initially is promotion to the next level , the Cornwall-Devon League and then to consolidate that position before looking towards promotion to the Western
Counties League .”
