Alan Walsh of club sponsor Texacloth recently told
Rugby Club Magazine, “Originally from Ireland, I met
my wife Suzannah and relocated to Scotland. I played
for Perthshire and became involved with Brecon and
then Dunkeld’s over 35s team which were joined by
some Blair players becoming the Dunkeld Ospreys.
The Ospreys are a formidable team as many players
are still relatively young and strong and have plenty of
stamina and skill. I was mainly a back row player but as
the years have passed I fit better into the 2nd row - not
quite as quick as I use to be!
I turned out to play for Blair four times last season
including 40 minutes in the Midlands Bowl final victory,
as an impact player I tend to be brought on in the 2nd
half to surprise the opposition you might say.
Andy McOuat asked me to give him one last season
and at the age of 44 I thought why not, it will be a nice
way to finish my playing career. I can’t speak highly
enough of our coach Craig Ormiston, who for anyone
who knows him is a no nonsense type character. Craig
is very much respected by all of us.
have matured greatly and are not reacting to the usual
match incidents that they were previously. Good luck

year old at Blairgowrie playing for P4 and 5s and is a
much better player than myself at his age. My daughter
