Taunton FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Their first team has produced a fine campaign so far this season, having put together a record of eighteen wins, three draws and seven defeats from their twenty eight matches. This has left them sitting near the top of the table with ninety-nine points on the board. They will now be looking to put together a good run of results in order to finish the campaign on a high so as to build momentum for the off-season. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of mounting a serious title challenge in the 2017-18 campaign. One of the highlights of the team’s performances so far this time around has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have been able to produce. This has been reflected by the fact that they have racked up 839 points in the league alone at a rate of nearly thirty per game. This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches Taunton School and TRFC have had a very long and fruitful association that goes back over a number of years. More recently, Taunton School has been delighted to be the exclusive sponsor and supporter of the Junior Section of TRFC. In essence this sponsorship has led to an even greater level of cooperation and support between the school and the rugby club. Taunton School has been able to help the junior section in a variety of areas including transport, use of pitches and facilities, the sharing of coaching expertise and a level of financial support that enables the club to keep costs down for parents. Both TRFC and Taunton School are passionate about providing outstanding opportunities for Taunton youngsters and in this respect the partnership is perhaps at its strongest in recent years. 6 Issue 70 will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. Taunton RFC is not a club to focus solely upon their senior set up however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a thriving youth section. This part of the club looks to provide young players from the local area with Rugby is a game that enjoys a really high profile at Taunton School and has done for many years. It is a game that allows all to contribute, whatever their skill set and camaraderie, sportsmanship and respect are at the core of its ethos. Rugby is a physically demanding game that requires skilful execution of skills under high pressure. It is a game whereby team work wins over individualism and its whole culture exudes togetherness, team spirit and mental and physical toughness. Rugby players are hard and fair and treat opponents and officials with respect. The game encourages positive personalities and celebrates those with different talents and abilities – it is a great game, especially at junior level!
