Their first team has produced a fine
campaign so far this season, having
put together a record of eighteen wins,
three draws and seven defeats from
their twenty eight matches. This has left
them sitting near the top of the table with
ninety-nine points on the board.
They will now be looking to put
together a good run of results in order
to finish the campaign on a high so as
to build momentum for the off-season.
As long as they are able to retain their
current group of players and can perhaps
make one or two quality additions they
should be in with a good chance of
mounting a serious title challenge in the
2017-18 campaign.
One of the highlights of the team’s
performances so far this time around has
been the attacking brand of rugby that
they have been able to produce. This has
been reflected by the fact that they have
racked up 839 points in the league alone
at a rate of nearly thirty per game.

Taunton School and TRFC have had a very
long and fruitful association that goes back over
a number of years. More recently, Taunton School
has been delighted to be the exclusive sponsor and
supporter of the Junior Section of TRFC. In essence
this sponsorship has led to an even greater level of
cooperation and support between the school and
the rugby club.
Taunton School has been able to help the junior
section in a variety of areas including transport,
use of pitches and facilities, the sharing of coaching
expertise and a level of financial support that
enables the club to keep costs down for parents.
Both TRFC and Taunton School are passionate
about providing outstanding opportunities
for Taunton youngsters and in this respect the
partnership is perhaps at its strongest in recent
years.

will have been well entertained and
should encourage more of the local
community to get behind the side in the
future. This in turn has the potential to
provide them with a valuable source of
additional revenue which is particularly
important in the current financial climate.
Taunton RFC is not a club to focus
solely upon their senior set up however
and this is reflected by the fact that
they also have a thriving youth section.
This part of the club looks to provide

Rugby is a game that enjoys a really high profile
at Taunton School and has done for many years. It
is a game that allows all to contribute, whatever
their skill set and camaraderie, sportsmanship and
respect are at the core of its ethos.
Rugby is a physically demanding game that
requires skilful execution of skills under high
pressure. It is a game whereby team work wins
over individualism and its whole culture exudes
togetherness, team spirit and mental and physical
toughness.
Rugby players are hard and fair and treat
opponents and officials with respect. The game
encourages positive personalities and celebrates
those with different talents and abilities – it is a
great game, especially at junior level!
