RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
B
ased at The Pavillion on Brendon Grove in Nottinghamshire, Bingham
RFC currently competes in the Midlands 5 East (North) Division. They
are led by the team of President John Gillies and Chairman John Perry and are
looking to progress under their guidance.
They were first established in 1971
and throughout their early years they
were able to field three sides and played
out of Toothill School before moving to
pitches at Wynhill.
The opening of their new clubhouse
at the time was carried out by the Vice
President of the RFU, Jeff Addison. The
club has put together a history of which
they have every right to be proud and
one major achievement was when they
managed to win the Courage League III
in the 1991/92 season. This saw them
promoted to League II.
So far this season it would be fair to
say that their first team has not perhaps
enjoyed the campaign that they would
have liked, having put together a record
of four wins and eight defeats from
twelve matches. This has left them sitting
near the bottom of the table with nineteen
points on the board.
They will now be looking to put
together a good run of results in their
remaining fixtures in order to pull away
from the bottom of the league. This
would provide them with momentum
heading into the off-season as they look
to strengthen ahead of their 2017/18
campaign.
This is a club that is committed to
playing an important role in their local
community and this is reflected by the
fact that they also have a Little Ruggers
section. This part of the club looks to
provide youngsters from the local area
with an opportunity to play the game in
a safe and enjoyable environment whilst
helping them to reach their full potential.
It will certainly be exciting to see how
these youngsters are able to progress over
the coming years. Exposing youngsters
to the core values associated with rugby
can also help them in their personal and
professional development.
Off the field, Bingham boasts some
high quality facilities which they make
available to the public for a variety
“Although it would be fair to say that
Bingham RUFC has not achieved the success
they would have liked on the field this
season, this should not take away from the
good work being carried out at the club.”
