We are an amateur club, who strive to be professional in everything that we do (without paying). Players work hard for their hobby, and we want to ensure that all players enjoy their time with us and leave all sessions a better player. We hope that leads to promotion and we continue to be successful as a result.” Many of the parents in the junior section own their own businesses, that support Old Pats, alongside Senior sponsors having been involved for a number of years. We have over 20 players involved in the senior squad who have come through the junior ranks. This doesn’t include current Colts playing. Our youth section is the biggest locally with over 400 players.” Facilities Community “Our school and club links are strong with many local schools sending juniors to us whilst we use different schools to train/play at. A number of current players are ex-UoG, alongside the likes of using their facilities, expertise etc. “The facilities that we use do not equate to the level we are playing at and our status in Gloucestershire rugby. We would love to be able to develop or somehow have the playing facilities to continue our development as a club. Our facilities are very modest in comparison to the status we have achieved and the standard of players we have. We have ambitions to expand and improve but like many junior clubs we struggle financially. We have an excellent spirit amongst our players and support staff and we would very much like to find a way to bring our facilities in line with the professional standards we have.” Challenges/Ambitions “Finance is one of our main challenges, we are always looking to promote our club and introduce new sponsors and to improve revenue streams. It is our ambition to maintain our status as one of the leading clubs in Gloucestershire.” Matt Cape is the current Mini/Junior Rugby Chairman at Old Patesians Rugby Club.
