RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
T
op of the table and five points ahead of close rivals and neighbours
Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow Rugby Club are daring to dream of
promotion not just for themselves but also Cleobury.
Both clubs have been slugging it out
at the top of the table since the start of the
season and it could go right down to the
very last game which just happens to be
between them at Cleobury Mortimer.
“It would be absolutely brilliant if we
could both go up into North Mids Two.
It’s always nice to have a local derby to
look forward to,” said Ludlow Chairman,
Andy Wright.
“Both clubs have played superbly
and, from what I have seen, have the
quality to do well in a higher league.”
Over the last two seasons Ludlow has
been steadily building a new young side
under coach Norman Stalker. This season
John Duggan of J D Accountancy recently took the time to tell Rugby Club Magazine more about his
positive association with the club. He told us, “I’m an ex-player with the club from many years ago but my
main association with Ludlow RFC comes through my son, Gavin. He is currently their first team forwards
coach and has been with the club for around five years. He finished his playing career when he was 31
having played for Llanelli from the age of 13.
It’s great to see the team doing so well this season and I hope they are able to go on and clinch the
league title. Either way, they can be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved and I’d like to take this
opportunity to wish all the team plenty of success in the future.”
