We are now looking to continue
enjoying what we have started. We
are an amateur club, who strive to be
professional in everything that we do
(without paying). Players work hard for
their hobby, and we want to ensure that
all players enjoy their time with us and
leave all sessions a better player. We hope
that leads to promotion and we continue
to be successful as a result.”
Many of the parents in the junior
section own their own businesses, that
support Old Pats, alongside Senior
sponsors having been involved for
a number of years. We have over 20
players involved in the senior squad who

Facilities
Community
“Our school and club links are strong
with many local schools sending juniors
to us whilst we use
different schools
to train/play at. A number of current
players are ex-UoG, alongside the likes

comparison to the status we have
achieved and the standard of players
we have. We have ambitions to expand
and improve but like many junior clubs
we struggle financially. We have an
excellent spirit amongst our players and
support staff and we would very much
like to find a way to bring our facilities in
line with the professional standards we
have.”
Challenges/Ambitions
“Finance is one of our main challenges,
we are always looking to promote our
club and introduce new sponsors and
to improve revenue streams. It is our
ambition to maintain our status as one of
the leading clubs in Gloucestershire.”
Matt Cape is the current Mini/Junior Rugby Chairman at Old Patesians
Rugby Club. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “The clubs mini
junior section has been in existence for over fifteen years and having
come from senior rugby, where I played in the position of prop
forward, there was a natural reason to become involved with min/
junior rugby when my son started playing.
How we measure our success in rugby comes down to two
things; the number of children we have taki
