“ Last season was the first season in London 2 SE finishing in 6th place , which is the highest level at which the 1st XV has played for 20 years . This was a good start following promotion although expectations were raised after a fantastic start to the season .
This year we anticipated a tougher season as we had in excess of 50 % of our squad change meaning the younger players coming through would need time to adjust to the level of rugby . These players have performed admirably and with a number of 17-19 year olds playing , the future looks bright . We currently sit in 6th position and remain on track to improve on last season ’ s finishing position .”

“ Mini , Junior and Colts Rugby is thriving at Horsham with the club running one of the largest sections in Sussex . They are on an incredible growth trend , winning more and more each season and producing players of fantastic quality .
It is recognised that the regular supply of players to the senior sides is the lifeblood of the club . Along with other clubs we face the challenge of retaining players when they have graduated from successful Colt ’ s sides and the majority go on to university . “ We launched both our mixed Touch Rugby and Girls Rugby sections a few years ago . Our Touch Tigers have an extremely vibrant social section and our Girls Rugby section is growing rapidly at Under 13 , 15 and 18 levels .”
Club Development
“ It has long been recognised that our changing facilities are outdated and not fit for purpose in the modern world of rugby . We ’ ve already made improvements to the clubhouse and have ambitious plans to build a new changing room block .
This is being funded from a combination of fund raising , sponsorship , donations and loan and grants from the RFU and Sport England . The build is set to commence in February 2017 with completion due in July 2017 . We will then convert the existing changing room area into social space and upgrade the ground facilities too .”
Ambitions
“ The goal of the senior sides is for the 1st XV to gain promotion to London 1 South within five years , for the Lions ( 2nd XV ) to consolidate their position in Sussex 1 , and for the Barbarians ( 3rd XV ) to have sufficient numbers on a regular basis to be able to form a 4th / Veterans team .
We would like all of our junior coaches to have level 2 qualifications , to have training sessions run by current 1st XV players from time to time , to continue to increase our playing numbers and to increase the footprint of the club to provide more space and amenities .” www . rugbyclub . biz 97
