inety RFC has put together a steady campaign so far this season competing in the Dorset & Wilts 1 North League . Graham Cooke ( Press and Publicity
Officer ) took the time to tell us more about the club .
He told us , “ We are a small village club which “ punches ” significantly above its weight ( the population of Minety is 1500 ). “ Minety Rugby Club is at the very heart of our community . Minety is a small village in North Wiltshire consisting of a school , a couple of pubs and our sports facility , which is overseen and managed by the MPFA ( Minety Playing Fields Association ) to whom we pay an annual rent . This facility consists of the Rugby
Club , Football , Tennis , Cricket and a Skittles team .
“ We involve the local community as much as possible , and endeavour to spread our wings beyond our boundaries too , by holding various events and activities , which are open to all from far and wide . In addition to a wide range of social events , which are open to club members and others alike , we host an annual beer festival , featuring live music , a fun fair and a wide range of beverages .
“ Youth rugby is hugely important to Minety RFC . We are proud that we have developed a very large junior section ranging right through from Under 7 ’ s ( we actually take children of both sexes from their 5th birthday ) to the Academy squad , made up of 16 to 18 year olds .
