St Clears
Dorian Thomas is a club sponsor of St Clears Rugby Club with his business Eagle Signs . He recently told Rugby Club Magazine , “ I love all things sport and come from a very sporty family . My own sport was gymnastics when I was younger where I competed for both Wales and Britain . In more current years I have been a Quoits player , achieving runner up in the British Championship recently having won the title twice before .”
“ My grandchildren Stefan and Cian Thomas play for St Clears excellent mini section which is now coming of age and thriving and one of our workers Nick Shute has a daughter Olivia who plays there too .
“ The St Clears senior team is having a great season and Gwyndaf Williams and the other club committee members have done an excellent job making the club into what it is today . Great support from the local business community has been magnificent and long may it continue . My business Eagle Signs also like to help out when we can and myself and staff would like to wish everyone associated with St Clears Rugby community the very best of continued success !”
This is very important and recent investment has allowed us to enhance facilities over the last 5 years and gain grant support from various sources .
Improvements include pitch drainage , new floodlights and the provision of a new sponsors match day venue overlooking the ground / committee meeting room .”
Community
“ We are a community club in a small village of c3000 people and growing . The town has a proactive community supporting various sports and the rugby club has benefited from working with the primary school ( c300 kids and growing ) and also local business that have been very supportive with sponsorship for kit etc . for the youngsters .
We also support surrounding villages and aim to attract youngsters to the club including , Bancyfelin ,
Llanboidy , Meidrim , Trelech . Of course having competitive clubs such as Laugharne , Whitland , Narberth , Carmarthen Athletic and Carmarthen Quins all within 10 miles of St Clears , maintains the focus of the committee to ensure that we deliver rugby within the community in a professional and fun manner for all to develop their skills and learn of the game in a fun environment .”

Mark Howells is a current committee member of St Clears Rugby Club and has sponsored the club for the past three seasons with his business The Black Lion Hotel . He recently told Rugby Club Magazine , “ Myself and a few friends started the clubs mini and junior rugby section ten years ago I was the team ’ s first aider at the time and continued to help with some coaching .
I am delighted to witness how our club has grown . My son Jac started as a 6 year old and now plays youth rugby for the U17s as their scrum half . Mike Phillips the Welsh international started his rugby at St Clears .
