ST HELEN ’ S SWANSEA – HOME OF THE MIGHTY “ ALL WHITES ” – A CLUB RENOWNED THROUGHOUT THE RUGBY WORLD .

Rugby players and supporters all over the world know about Swansea Rugby Club . Why is that ? Well partly it is due to the great names that have graced the superb running surface of St Helen ’ s . It is also in part due to the exceptional record the club has against great touring sides over the years .
The club was formed in 1872 under Association rules , but converted to rugby rules by 1874 . St Helen ’ s became the home of Swansea RFC in 1876 , with the first match on the new ground taking place on the 4th November against Llandovery College . Swansea famously defeated New Zealand at St Helen ’ s in 1935 , and from this were the first club side to defeat the Southern Hemisphere ‘ big three ’ ( Australia ( 1908 ) and South Africa ( 1912 ).
New Zealand were also held to a six-all draw by Swansea in 1953 and Australia have been beaten twice more in 1966 and memorably in 1992 when they were world Champions . A drawn match was also made with them in 1973 .
Since George Lockwood Morris won his Welsh cap against Ireland in 1882 , 164 players have gained international honours whilst
