Glenrothes forge professional careers in the game and the club has produced a number of international players at youth and club international level .
I joined the club about 40 years ago intending to train to keep fit but not too keen on playing , however the match secretary ( Brian Wilson who recently rejoined the club after a long exile in Wales ) had other ideas and soon I was playing regularly for the 3rd XV . As time went on my keenness on training decreased , though I continued to be selected .
Encouraging my teenaged son to play resulted in more regular appearances at training in my 40 ’ s and he went on to
better things while I continued playing into my 50 ’ s . As an incomer , I had few friends in the town until I joined the club but was immediately made to feel welcome and I like to think that this is still the experience of anyone joining the club today .
As president , the most challenging aspect of my role is to find volunteers able and willing to contribute to the running of the club . Finding enough hours in the day can also be a problem . There are many rewarding aspects however , working as part of a team , seeing teams representing the club take
